Funny little story...
I was reading an article on Podcast Listing Mistakes over on Ezine Articles. I very rarely quote anything in Ezine Articles because to be honest, their articles generally suck. I find them hard to read because they frequently come across as too chatty or contain factual errors. That's why I was really surprised while reading Podcast Listing Mistakes. I was thinking to myself "these tips are really good!"
Then I scrolled down the bottom of the page and saw that it was written by Leesa Barnes. Geez, Leesa - you're bringing too much class to that place.
Leesa's article focusses on the types of listing mistakes that podcasters make that might be preventing them from getting more exposure than they could. There are six tips in the list and my vote for most innovative and useful is:
Make the album name your email address. Nothing is more frustration for an interviewer than having to click through dozens of pages just to find an email address. Make it easy for the interviewer to contact you by using the album field in the ID3 tag for your email address. The interviewer will be grateful for this convenience, plus you lessen your chance of losing that ounce of free publicity.
Brilliant!
That is a great tip. My variation on that is to use the Artist field for my email address and the Album field for my URL. This tells them how to contact me and how to find more content online.
