For reference, I pay $12 or something for each 30-second clip from Bob Taylor. I found him on Radio Daddy but now deal with him direct whenever I need something. I didn' t know it at the time, but Bob's prices are extremely reasonable. I've put requests for quotes on sites like Interactive Voices and they've come back in the hundreds and hundreds of dollars.
If you want to check out Bob's work for me, listen to the first 20 seconds of any of our podcasts (past show #9).
If you have absolutely no idea where to start, I would recommend Radio Daddy. Stupid name, great website. There's a free voice over forum where you can request a voice over. In general, if you describe what you want with sufficient detail, you'll get 3 or 4 responses back and you can pick and choose which one you'd like. Be aware, however, that those freebies are kind of like dropping a calling card for the voice over artists. Don't expect them to make changes or do any more for you. Once you've sampled the wares, you'll be expected to pay if you want more.
The last place I would go is Interactive Voices. This is the place that quoted me out of the freakin' water. For what I paid Bob $50-ish for, the lowest Interactive Voices quote was $450 or something like that. Those guys over there think that they're pretty hot stuff, but let's face it - $500 voiceovers are for radio stations, not podcasters.
We have used Allison many times for IVR prompts (she does voice over too):

Her rates are very reasonable and she is a consummate professional.
