I'm not exactly sure how I missed this, I did. The Democracy Player is a video podcatcher for everyone. Yes, even us Linux users which is why I can't believe I missed this.
I've only played with Democracy for a few moments before scuttling off to work, but the biggest boon for Linux users is that it appears to come with all of the codecs required to play videos. I haven't tried them all, but I added a few shows to player and all of the videos played without a problem. Granted, I have a lot of codecs already installed, but I've always had problems with MOV files and Democracy played Ask Ninja in MOV format without issue.
I've noticed that while LInux applications in the podcasting space aren't exactly sprouting like weeds, there's a growing noise about them. Services like Blip.tv, (allegedly) Podcast Ready, and now the Democracy crew are starting to pay attention to us. I think we can largely thank the Ubuntu clan for that.
So, have you become a Democracy addict over the past month or forgotten about it? Personally, I'm hooked and spend more time using it than a TV.
