I have to admit that I'm not much of an activist. I'm not very good at getting to the meet of heated political issues and, sadly, I also don't feel that I can make a difference in many of these types of things. I'm just not sit-in type of guy, what can I say?
There are some very good activitsts taking action in the face of this treaty, however. The American Electronic Frontier Foundation and Cory Doctorow are leading the charge.
"The Broadcast Treaty is an attempt to force the world’s governments to give a new right to broadcasters, a right to control the use of works they don’t own. The Broadcast Right will allow broadcasters to stop you from copying or re-using the programs they transmit, even if those programs are in the public domain, Creative Commons licensed or composed of uncopyrightable facts."I have to admit that doesn't sound good. There's more information at the links I've provided.
