Podlook just released some interesting stats on the Chinese podcasting scene.
I'm not going to regurgitate the entire liste here. There's enough people in the blogosphere doing that. But I do want to talk about two of the more interesting (in my opinion) stats.
Education and criticism genres are most popular, but most podcast content focuses on entertainment and personal life.
22% of podcasts were video, up from 17% four months ago; 1% were Flash; 77% were audio.
I find the first one interesting because I'm curious how it stacks up against North American preferences. I think that a quick trip to any podcast directory will show an awful lot of music and comedy podcasts, but I seriously doubt that they'll show a lot of educational podcasts. I don't doubt that there out there, I just doubt North American's attraction to them.
Point number two is only interesting in that it may give a glimpse into the next generation of podcasting. Flashcasting. Yup - you heard it here first.
