The trick though is knowing what a podcast is and isn't. If it's just someone reading a press release or speaking the party line from a script then it's not valuable...
Very true, and Chapman summed that up nicely. I've always been of the opinion that a sanitized and 'legalized' podcast really doesn't serve any purpose, and Chapman hits the nail on the head when he states that such a podcast has no value.
That's what it's all about - value. Listeners have tons of options when it comes to their listening choices, and falling asleep while the CEO of a company reads their action plan into a microphone isn't likely to be high on the list.
Having said that, the appreciation of value lies strictly with the listener. A stock holder that couldn't make the annual meeting but is interested in how the company is doing, may well want to hear the CEO read the action plan.
It's the same old story: know your audience.
