Just curious if it's possible. As far as I know, nobody owns it yet and since there's a plethora of articles out on the Internet about why the "pod" part doesn't stand for iPod it seems to me that the word is out there for the taking.
I'm not a lawyer, but I do know that companies like Xerox have had to fight for their copyright in court at least once. While a good marketing campaign's main goal is to get a company or product to become synonymous with that product or company, the campaign can become too successful. If a company or product name becomes part of mainstream use (such as "I'm going to Xerox this" not too long ago), then the courts can take away the copyright. Come to think of it - how does the fact that 'googling' is in the dictionary now affect Google?
Anyhow, "podcast" would be a great word to own and it might be just the time to snap it up :)
