LibriVox is a great project that provides free audio books from the public domain.
You can participate as a listener, reader, or both. The audiobooks can be downloaded in MP3 and OGG format and then played on any old digital audio player or computer that you have lying around. Further, Librivox fulfills the criteria to be a podcast because there's a feed you can subscribe to with your podcatcher. Very cool. I'm listening to Aesop's Fox and Grapes fable right now.
You can also volunteer to read a story, book, or a portion thereof. Imagine, immortalized forever in an audiobook.
The directory of completed books and stories is pretty impressive. If you're going on a roadtrip or just like the audio book thing, then check out LibriVox.
thanks for the tip!
