podOmatic is a podcast host with a difference. They go much farther than just hosting and provide a complete set of online recording tools, promotion tools, and statistics. It's the statistics thing that I find interesting.
In its statistic package, podOmatic provides geographic data on where your listeners are coming from. To date I've seen many web stat packages and services that offer this information, but I'm not aware of anyone else offering this service for only podcast downloads.
Geo-IP'ing listener stats might be relevant for some podcasters. It all depends on the content. I'm not concerned in the least where my listeners come from, but a city or country-based podcaster might be interested in how many of their listeners are local.
It looks like you'll have to host your show with podOmatic to get access to these stats and sadly podOmatcic fits into my category of 'hosts that don't get it'. They limit bandwidth, you see, and any host that limits your diskspace or bandwidth is effectively setting you up to be penalized for being successful. I run away from such hosts.
Their free package allows 7.5GB per month and their Plus users (at $10/month) get 50GB of bandwidth. My show pulls around 80GB a month and I would't consider that to be 'wildly successful'.
Hey,
You get 100GB monthly with Plus and 200GB with Plus Extra.
