Banking podcasts. OK, sure. Why not?
First Direct - online banking specialists - is going to hop on the podwagon.
The first podcast will go live on the company website in June and will feature an interview with first direct's head of e-commerce, Darren Sugden, in which he gives consumers advice on staying safe when banking online.
Why this is good
Anyone who's ever called into their bank for advice will have probably left the conversation thinking the same thing I do: that guy/gal didn't know what s/he was talking about. I would honestly appreciate the advice from someone a little higher up the chain when it comes to my online banking security. Someone who's doing this as a career than as a summer job, you know?
Why this is bad
I don't actually know if this is going to go bad or not, but I've had some pretty poor experiences with podcasts that are announced before a single episode is produced. In most cases, the show never comes to air. In other cases, the lead up time is needed to post-produce the heck out of the thing so by the time it hits the air it's a useless piece of sanitized marketing fluff.
Here's hoping First Direct gets it right.
