Jon usually gets into a spin cycle where he focuses on one particular person on his blog for a few consecutive posts.
One week, his object of attention was me. But since it would be tacky to blog about myself on someone else's blog, my object of attention this week is John C. Havens.
He just posted some comments on his blog about a report written by Marketing Sherpa (clicking on that link will launch PDF) that showed that blogs and podcasts were effective in generating sales leads. In particular, 22% of software marketers who had used podcasts, a very new marketing medium, rated them “very effective.”
Something that John said in his post was just too funny. He wrote:
So how many more reports have to come out before you'll try podcasting for yourself? Or is it that you just don't want to let your competitors know what a great tool podcasting is for communicating with your customers and employees? Ah. Well...I'm still telling.
Thank you John. For me, the Marketing Sherpa report confirms something I've been telling people for ages - that podcasting is a lead-generating tool. Listen to this and this to find out how long I've been singing this tune. The difference now is that I've got a 5 piece band to back me up :)
I love being right. And for all the left-brainer out there, I now have the stats to prove it. Yippee!
